BOYS HIGHER: THE SUMMIT OF PURPOSE
Some mountains are climbed for achievement.
Others are climbed for something far greater.
Boys Higher was never only about reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It was about leadership, brotherhood, endurance, and creating educational opportunity through challenge and purpose-driven action.
What began as an ambitious expedition soon became a symbol of resilience, unity, and the belief that extraordinary experiences can inspire meaningful change.
SIX DAYS. ONE PURPOSE.
In July 2025, a team connected through Pretoria Boys High School set out on a six-day expedition to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro — the highest mountain in Africa.
The expedition brought together:
- Chris Oldnall,
- Jacques Kunz,
- Luke Allan,
- Keegan McIntosh,
- and Wade Grundy,
in support of a shared mission to create educational opportunity through the Legacy Program.
Over the course of the climb, the team faced freezing temperatures, altitude, exhaustion, physical discomfort, and the relentless psychological demands that come with high-altitude endurance.
But the mountain itself was never the true objective.
The purpose behind the climb was always bigger than the summit.
ENDURANCE FOR EDUCATION
Every step taken up the mountain represented something larger than personal accomplishment.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness and support for boys with limited resources to gain access to education, mentorship, structure, and opportunity through Pretoria Boys High School.
More than a fundraising expedition, Boys Higher became a living example of the values the movement represents:
- resilience,
- discipline,
- leadership,
- brotherhood,
- and service to others.
As the team climbed higher, the message behind the initiative travelled further — inspiring students, old boys, families, supporters, and communities to rally behind a shared purpose.

Altitude tested the body.
Cold tested endurance.
Fatigue tested resolve.
But perhaps the greatest challenge was learning to continue placing one foot in front of the other despite discomfort, uncertainty, and exhaustion.
The expedition became a powerful reminder that growth often happens in difficult places — and that meaningful change rarely comes without sacrifice.
BROTHERHOOD ON THE MOUNTAIN
One of the defining elements of Boys Higher was the spirit of brotherhood that carried the team through the climb.
Encouragement, humour, support, and shared determination became essential parts of the journey as the team moved together through changing conditions and extreme altitude.
The expedition represented more than endurance sport.
It reflected mentorship, leadership across generations, and the strength that comes from shared purpose.
The phrase repeated throughout the journey became symbolic of the mindset required to reach the summit:

UHURU PEAK
After days of climbing through harsh conditions and thinning oxygen, the team eventually reached Uhuru Peak — standing on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro together.
But the summit itself was never the ending.
The true success of Boys Higher lives in the impact the initiative continues to create:
- awareness,
- inspiration,
- educational support,
- mentorship,
- and opportunity for future generations.
MORE THAN A MOUNTAIN
Boys Higher became another defining chapter in the growing story of Bone Hammer Projects.
It proved once again that endurance can become a vehicle for impact — and that physical challenge can inspire people to support something far greater than themselves.
The climb helped continue the momentum of a movement dedicated to turning sacrifice into opportunity through education, leadership, and community.
EDUCATION CHANGES FUTURES
Support through the Legacy Program extends far beyond academics alone.
